Tallouzi says she will always remember the plaintive feeling in her
soul as she asked herself: “What do I do now? How do I define my life?”
Her search began in September 2006 when
her son, Staff Sergeant Daniel Tallouzi, was wounded from a mortar attack in Iraq. Shrapnel the size of a quarter crossed
both hemispheres of Daniel’s brain and lodged in the center.
He endured more than two years of recovering in hospitals before returning home and eventually
passing away on Febr. 28, 2009.
